About

Hello! I am Allison Palmer, a paper illustrator & art instructor in Walla Walla, WA.

I love color and paper! My greeting cards and paper-cut illustrative artworks are largely inspired by life in the Pacific Northwest, the changing seasons and social, outdoorsy culture. I am drawn to simplicity and clean lines, which is why I am so enthralled with paper illustration. I create for businesses and do custom work, so feel free to get in touch if you have a creative idea.

I founded Wheat Art Company in 2019 as a way to share my illustrations, provide high quality cards and art work, and strengthen connections in my Walla Walla Valley community.

Before making the leap to full-time business owner and working artist, I was employed as an art teacher in the Seattle area where I taught intercurricular programs, after-school, and studio classes to elementary age students. Much of time now is spent teaching art to children in downtown Walla Walla, at Make For Joy Art Studio. I LOVE sharing art knowledge, techniques, and inspiration with the kids in both School-Year Art Classes and Summer Art Camps. You can find more info about our art programs at makeforjoyart.com.

In between teaching and art projects, I enjoy being outside, petting furry animals, cooking, and sampling plant-based ice creams. My husband Matthew and I run our creative businesses together, and we love to travel; we also shop local, hike, bike, and explore our beautiful Northwest as often as we can!

You may have already had the pleasure of meeting my husband, Matthew: wonderful, creative, visionary, and Business/Operations Manager extraordinaire at Wheat Art Company. Matthew is also the maker behind @korwoodcraft and all the beautiful wooden holders, shelves, jewelry and accessories you find associated with many WAC products, and in our downtown art studio for classes. I most certainly couldn’t do what I do without him! Find more of his work on Instagram.
